ITDS business consultant manager Grzegorz Malinowski has been involved in the IT world for over eight years. He has played various roles – from back-end developer to full-stack developer, then UI team leader and system architect. “My career path was clear to me from the very beginning. I studied IT at university because it’s been my passion since I was a child,” says Grzegorz. With a team of 20 top-class professionals, in multiple streams, he currently leads the delivery of banking applications.
Having started with five people and a single stream six months ago, to grow his team Grzegorz had to act quickly, reorganise and get results, which is what he’s doing at the moment. As manager, his daily duties include planning, gathering requirements, coordination, talking to other business teams, BAs, PMs, as well as other IT managers. “From one day to the next I really don’t know what to expect. A lot of things that affect my projects can change in minutes so I have to be continuously alert. You have to be flexible, stay calm and carry on, no matter what.”
Grzegorz’s first experience of working with ITDS was as a team leader with his previous employer. “I was really impressed with the engagement of the ITDS team. They sent us well-qualified consultants who were open-minded, genuinely interested in the projects they worked on and keen to learn more. In a nutshell, they were easy and nice to work with.” So much so, apparently, that he decided to jump ship and join ITDS!
Because he was ready for a new challenge Grzegorz contacted ITDS, which he thinks is one of the best decisions he ever made. After joining the company his obvious ambition and success led to him being quickly promoted, first to a team leader and then manager. “I like the fact that ITDS offers new opportunities, such as business training, coaching, technical training courses, regular sessions with other consultants to discuss what’s going well and what isn’t, and how to make the necessary improvements to get to the next level. ITDS Partner Charles-Alexandre Gamba believes that when consultants grow, ITDS grows along with them. And I agree.”
When asked what he likes most about being a consultant at ITDS, Grzegorz says the flexibility. “I can decide what to do and when to do it, which tools to use and whom I want to work with. Being a team leader at work and the head of a family at home have something very important in common. You have to remember that you’re a team player, in both situations!”
