Krakow-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 remote days per week).

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be working for our client, a leader in the financial industry, supporting the design, build, and ongoing management of mission-critical database systems across the Global Private Bank and Wealth estate. Join a dynamic team of technical experts committed to optimizing infrastructure, enhancing security, and enabling digital transformation through advanced database solutions.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver infrastructure initiatives such as platform upgrades, standardization, and estate hygiene.
  • Build and manage database environments supporting cloud and on-premises deployments, aligning with strategic cost reduction goals.
  • Assess and deploy security patches and critical updates to ensure compliance and risk management.
  • Evaluate emerging database technologies, develop proof-of-concepts, and support their safe adoption within the estate.
  • Provide consultancy to project teams on database design, resilience, performance, backup/recovery, and operational readiness.
  • Produce comprehensive documentation including standards, procedures, and runbooks.
  • Report progress and potential risks to management through clear and concise updates.
  • Support change and incident activities, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and participating in on-call rotations.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with enterprise RDBMS, such as Oracle (RMAN, Data Guard, RAC, Exadata), DB2, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adopt new database technologies rapidly.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python/Ansible).
  • Strong understanding of IT operations, including incident and change management in controlled production environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical topics to varied audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Comfortable working in high-pressure environments and adhering to tight deadlines, including out-of-hours support when necessary.

It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)

  • Experience with cloud database platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, Ali Cloud).

Language Required for the role:

  • Fluent English (verbal and written).
