As an Expert Engineering Uplift Lead within our client's Enterprise Integration Platform team, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of a critical global technology function under HSBC’s Chief Technology Office. You will spearhead initiatives to enhance platform reliability, performance, automation, and developer experience, driving measurable improvements that elevate operational excellence across a complex enterprise environment.
Your main responsibilities:
- Lead the discovery of engineering uplift opportunities using telemetry, incident themes, customer feedback, and operational data to identify improvement areas.
- Translate complex problems into clear, measurable uplift initiatives with defined outcomes such as reduced incidents, increased deployment frequency, and improved reliability/SLOs.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Architecture teams to prioritize and align uplift efforts with strategic goals.
- Provide technical guidance on solution options, standards, and best practices for uplift delivery.
- Drive adoption of engineering standards, peer reviews, quality controls, and release practices across the platform.
- Identify and eliminate delivery blockers by enhancing operational processes, dependency management, and governance.
- Define KPIs, create dashboards, and leverage data to inform decisions and demonstrate impact.
- Monitor and optimize process performance to meet objectives and accommodate unforeseen scenarios.
- Coach engineering teams through knowledge sharing, documentation, and hands-on support to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise technology environments with strong hands-on engineering credibility (software, platform, automation, SRE).
- Proven leadership in driving engineering improvement initiatives across multiple teams.
- Solid business analyst skills to elicit pain points, model processes, quantify impacts, and convert insights into actionable backlogs.
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret operational data and engineering metrics.
- In-depth knowledge of high-performing engineering team practices.
- Experience working within Agile frameworks.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within diverse, global teams.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and ownership mindset.
- Fluent command of English, comfortable working in multi-cultural and international settings.
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience supporting IT services underpinned by vendor software.
- Knowledge of reliability and operational excellence practices (SLOs, incident management, observability).
- Familiarity with improving developer experience through CI/CD maturity, automation, and self-service.
- Understanding of financial services compliance and risk management requirements.
Language Required for the role:
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
