As a Development Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global leader in the financial services sector, focusing on the development and enhancement of their internal platform. You will be responsible for designing and implementing both front-end and back-end features to improve business operations. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and clients, driving innovation in an agile CI/CD environment, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Your main responsibilities:

• Designing and developing features for both front-end and back-end based on project backlog and priorities
• Collaborating with developers, testers, and customers to build and run high-impact applications
• Launching new features in collaboration with the wider engineering team
• Building APIs and microservices to solve critical business problems
• Actively participating in code peer reviews and writing automated test scripts
• Working in an agile environment to ensure continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD)
• Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise
• Engaging with customers to address issues and respond to feature requests
• Maintaining clear documentation and updating Jira/Confluence with project progress
• Ensuring system stability and scalability through effective coding practices

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Proficiency in Kotlin or a strong background in Java with a willingness to learn Kotlin
• Experience in API development, SQL/databases, and HTML/JavaScript
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of working within Agile frameworks and tools like Jira/Confluence
• A solid understanding of microservices architecture
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality code
• Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and clients
• A proactive approach to solving challenges and improving system performance
• Experience in peer code reviews and automated testing

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline best practices
• Familiarity with cloud-based services and architecture
• Experience in financial services or a similar industry
• Knowledge of Docker or containerization technologies
