As an Engineering Excellence Lead, you will be working for our client, a global financial services leader dedicated to enhancing governance, risk, and control across their enterprise technology landscape. In this role, you will drive engineering excellence by guiding, mentoring, and leading a diverse team of engineers. You will be at the forefront of technological innovation, ensuring best practices are adopted and helping to break down complex programs into manageable, efficient deliveries. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the client’s technological direction, making their operations faster, safer, and more effective.
Your main responsibilities:
- Leading engineering excellence initiatives across Governance, Risk, and Control (GRC)
- Mentoring and guiding engineering teams on best practices and innovative approaches
- Providing subject matter expertise in areas such as DevOps, security, and agile methodologies
- Contributing to architecture decisions by ensuring alignment with business needs
- Breaking down complex programs into manageable, deliverable components
- Playing an active role in production incidents, even beyond areas of direct involvement
- Researching and driving the adoption of new technologies and processes
- Influencing technology direction and ensuring buy-in from senior management and business stakeholders
- Leading efforts to improve team performance and continuous improvement practices
- Communicating technical vision and strategy effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- Proven ability to think strategically and guide teams towards innovative technological directions
- Expertise across multiple domains, with the ability to apply knowledge to diverse problems
- Demonstrated mastery in a technical discipline with a passion for continuous learning
- Experience in contributing to architecture decisions and aligning them with business needs
- Strong accountability, taking ownership of outcomes and driving results
- Proficiency in communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to influence beyond your immediate team, shaping decisions across departments
- Experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams towards excellence
- A collaborative mindset, valuing team success over individual achievements
- Proven track record of identifying risks and opportunities for business improvement
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience in influencing technology direction beyond your current organization
- Familiarity with industry-leading practices in governance, risk, and control
- Experience in explaining and gaining buy-in for technology directions from senior management
