DB Mainframe Engineer

Join a global leader and ensure database excellence in a robust mainframe environment!

This is a Luxembourg-based hybrid opportunity – 2 days from home per week, possible after the onboarding phase of approximately 1 month.

As a DB Mainframe Engineer, you will integrate into the team of our client, a world leader in software management. You will be responsible for managing complex database systems on the mainframe platform, ensuring their reliability, performance, and security.

Your main responsibilities:

• Implement and manage backup and recovery processes using advanced tools
• Maintain the physical and logical database design and architecture
• Troubleshoot database performance issues and optimize query performances
• Perform data management tasks such as data loading/unloading, updating, restoring and removal
• Conduct regular database maintenance tasks including Adhoc Reorgs and Runstats
• Monitor and manage database space, archiving, and purging activities
• Refresh development and test database environments with production backup images
• Provide support to development teams on daily issues related to database operations

You’re ideal for the role if you have:

• 5+ years of experience in mainframe DBA roles
• Expertise in TSO/ISPF and adept in JCL coding
• Strong knowledge of COBOL-DB2 programming and debugging
• Familiarity with IBM Utilities and DB2 tools like CA Platinum tools and Data Propagator
• Experience with z/OS operating system utilities and backup/recovery scenarios
• Ability to perform operating system performance tuning and monitoring
• Fluent English
• Familiarity with the z/OS environment, including utilities like TSO, SDSF, JES2, DFSMS, and USS
