Python Engineer

As a Python Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global financial institution, on a project involving the management and maintenance of on-prem Cloudera stack, including Hadoop and possibly other accompanying services like NiFi and Kafka.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Performing automation tasks using scripting languages
• Being involved in system evergreening, ensuring timely upgrades of all componentry
• Collaborating with engineering teams to provide sustainable solutions to emerging issues
• Troubleshooting and debugging the Cloudera stack
• Monitoring the Cloudera stack and building failure notification mechanisms
• Optimizing storage and configuring the platform
• Proactively finding ways to improve related services

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Strong Python, UNIX, and Win shell scripting skills
• Proficiency in UNIX environments from both regular user and admin points of view
• Basic database skills, including relational and SQL
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders with clear communication
• Strong problem-solving skills and a “can-do” attitude

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Fair understanding of Hadoop ecosystem such as HDFS and Hive
• Knowledge of network and Internet communication basics
• Understanding of data/communication security basics
• Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD aspects
• Experience with JavaScript, Google Cloud SDK
• Experience in data flow automation using Apache NiFi and/or Apache Kafka
• NoSQL databases knowledge
