As a Spark SME, you will be working for our client, a leading financial institution that is transforming its technology landscape to enhance risk management capabilities. You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining a strategic aggregation platform for Risk managers. This role is part of a significant initiative focused on delivering modern OLAP solutions and improving the existing architecture within a dynamic and collaborative engineering team. Your expertise will drive innovation and efficiency in handling vast data volumes in a fast-paced environment.
Your main responsibilities:
- Reviewing and implementing improvements in Spark cluster setup and configuration
- Leading issue resolution and enhancing the team’s Spark capabilities
- Analyzing, designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting IT solutions
- Integrating data processing services with analytics libraries from the Risk Analytics team
- Adopting DevOps and Agile principles to automate testing and build CI/CD pipelines
- Maintaining the production environment and addressing infrastructure issues
- Collaborating with business stakeholders and IT teams on requirement analysis
- Supporting incident resolution and monitoring within the platform
- Investigating technology solutions to overcome project blockers
- Ensuring high-quality delivery for both functional and non-functional requirements
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- A university degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline
- Solid experience in Spark development and distributed application design (Spark with Scala/Java/Python)
- Proven capability in improving Spark performance and coding quality
- Solid knowledge of software testing, hands on experience of delivering different types of testing automation with proper technology such as Junit, Cucumber, Karate, Rest Assured , Pact
- Proficiency in Java 11+ or Python 3.7+, with experience in Unix/Linux, Git, and Maven
- Strong knowledge of software testing and automation technologies
- Hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Ansible
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Enthusiasm and motivation to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience with Agile methodologies and the full software development lifecycle
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience using public cloud platforms like GCP or AWS
- Solid knowledge of Spring framework: Spring boot, Spring Batch, Spring Cloud, Spring Cloud Gateway, Eureka
- Knowledge of financial risk management in the banking industry
- Familiarity with the Traded Risk domain and related policies
- Experience in streaming solution builds and distributed computation
- Understanding of OLAP data modeling and data warehouse technologies
- Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience of Apache Beam, Apache Flink, Apache Samza, Hazelcast, Dataflow
- MDX, XMLA, Flink, Redis, Apache Beam, Apache Airflow
- Scrum Master certification or PMP certification
- FRM or CFA certification
