Developer salaries in Poland 2027: by technology and seniority

The question of developer salaries in Poland has a different answer in 2027 than it did two years ago. Not because rates fell, but because they stopped rising everywhere at once. They pulled apart between technologies, and in a few places between contract models too.

Developer salaries in Poland: where the figures come from

Firstly, every band in this article comes from the ITDS IT Talent Trends 2026 report, built on more than three and a half thousand recruitment conversations our team ran during 2025. These are numbers from processes that actually took place, rather than survey declarations.

Note that both contract models are shown. B2B rates are PLN net per hour, employment figures are PLN gross per month. Mixing those two measures is the single most common source of confusion in salary conversations, so they stay separate here.

Developer salaries in Poland by seniority

In practice the jump from junior to mid is the largest on the whole path, at roughly fifty percent. The move from mid to senior gives only twenty to thirty percent, and that is the point where time served stops being enough.

The second threshold is crossed with a skill that never appears in a job title: designing, and explaining technical decisions to people who do not make them.

Still, one detail only shows up on a careful reading of the tables. For most purely development roles the report gives no employment band at junior level, because those contracts did not appear in these processes. Juniors in coding roles now enter the market mainly through B2B, or through positions not called "developer".

Developer salaries in Poland by technology

In short, starting with B2B, since that is how most specialists here work and how most offers are written.

Notice the spread at senior level. Between PHP and Python it reaches sixty PLN an hour, which across a full month is around ten thousand. That gap has nothing to do with how hard the language is. It reflects where each language leads today.

Developer salaries in Poland: cloud, data and AI

These are the only areas where rates still move up clearly, at eight to ten percent a year, while the rest of the market has flattened.

Specifically, the difference between a senior in Java and a senior in MLOps reaches sixty PLN an hour. Read that carefully, though, because those roles need knowledge no weekend course supplies, and the market checks claims quickly.

Above senior: architect and lead

Moreover, the spread widens further here, and junior levels disappear entirely, which says something about how these roles are reached.

An architect and a development manager earn practically the same. At that level the choice between the technical and the management route is therefore not a financial decision, but a decision about what you want to spend the next years doing.

Why two people in the same role earn differently

Indeed, the bands are wide, and that is not an accident. Between the floor and the ceiling of a senior Java role sits twenty PLN an hour, roughly three and a half thousand a month. Three things decide which side of that range you land on.

None of them is where you live.

  • The client's market. A project for a London or New York client is priced differently from an internal system at a Polish company, even in the same language. With remote work, what counts is where the work comes from, not where you do it.
  • The type of employer. A software house, a product company and a corporation pay differently for the same title because they make money from your work differently. A software house sells your time, a product company sells a product, a corporation runs its own systems.
  • The nature of the project. Maintaining an existing system and building a new one are two different prices for the same role. Regulatory work and critical migrations pay most, because the cost of an error is highest.
In an interview, asking about the client's market will tell you more about your future pay than asking about the salary band.

Because remote and hybrid work are now dominant, they cut pay loose from the postcode. A developer in a smaller city working for a Warsaw company gets Warsaw rates at small-city costs, while the same person on an internal project at a local firm earns noticeably less without moving anywhere.

Developer salaries in Poland on employment against B2B

Of course, an hourly B2B rate looks more attractive than a monthly salary, and it usually is higher. Comparing them directly leads to bad decisions, though, because each figure contains something different.

Four differences that change the outcome

  • Holiday and sick leave. Paid on employment, not on B2B. Twenty-six days of holiday is around ten percent of the working year that you do not invoice.
  • Contributions and tax. Deducted by the employer on a contract of employment, settled yourself on B2B. That moves the amount in your account either way, depending on your tax arrangement.
  • Notice period. Statutory on employment, up to three months. Contractual on B2B, most often two to four weeks. It cuts both ways.
  • Creditworthiness. Banks treat an employment contract differently from a sole trader business, particularly in its first two years.

In practice, before comparing two offers, work the contract out over a year, subtract the days you will not invoice, and only then set it against the annual salary. The gap is often smaller than it first looked.

How to negotiate once you have these numbers

Finally, knowing the bands is a starting point, not an argument. Four things work better than citing a report.

  1. Give a range, not a figure
Because a specific number closes the conversation, a range opens it. Set the floor at a level you would genuinely accept, because that is where negotiation starts.
  2. Tie the number to scope
Note that the top of a band belongs to people who design rather than only execute. If you want the top, bring an example of a decision you made, not a task you completed.
  3. Check what sits outside the rate
Training budget, equipment, extra days off and on-call pay can move the real value of an offer more than a few złoty on the hour.
  4. Ask about the path, not only the entry
When pay reviews happen and what they depend on. An offer with no answer to that can look good on day one and poor after two years.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are developer salaries in Poland in 2027?

On a B2B contract a senior most often earns 140 to 220 PLN net per hour depending on the technology. Mid level is 100 to 170 and junior 60 to 110. On an employment contract a senior sits between 17,000 and 30,000 PLN gross per month.

Which technology pays most right now?

MLOps and AI, where a senior reaches 220 PLN an hour, and software architecture, where the ceiling reaches 240. These are also the only areas where rates still rise by eight to ten percent a year.

Does B2B pay more than employment?

The hourly rate is higher, but it includes no holiday, no sick leave and no employer contributions. The comparison only means something once you work the contract out over a year and subtract the days you will not invoice.

Do developer salaries depend on the city?

Far less than they used to. With remote and hybrid work the rate follows the client's market, the type of employer and the nature of the project. A developer in a smaller city working for a company with foreign clients earns more than someone in Warsaw on an internal project.

What does a junior developer earn?

On a B2B contract, 60 to 110 PLN net per hour depending on the technology. Note that for most purely development roles the report records no employment contracts at junior level, because such offers barely appeared in these processes.

Will IT rates rise again?

On average, not at the old pace. Growth came in at five to seven percent after years of double digits. The exceptions remain cloud, security and machine learning, where supply has not caught up with demand.

The numbers are a starting point, not an answer

So bands tell you where the market is. They do not tell you where you are. The same role at a bank and at a startup is priced differently, just as the same technology is priced differently on maintenance work and on building something new.

Therefore if you are midway through, direction pays better than time served. Moving from backend into data engineering, or from administration into cloud, shifts the band more than another year in the same role. Some of those projects run as nearshore teams based in Poland, working in English for clients abroad.
