As an Observability Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global leader in financial services, as part of a project enhancing the observability of critical infrastructure systems. This role focuses on improving the performance, reliability, and monitoring of a key platform, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and delivering innovative solutions. You will work in a dynamic environment that prioritizes technology excellence and operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with policies and controls.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Implementing and maintaining the observability and monitoring framework to meet diverse stakeholder needs
  • Delivering activities aligned with the monitoring and observability roadmap for the platform
  • Collaborating with application teams to set up observability for their systems, including dashboards, visualization, and monitoring
  • Providing consultancy on self-healing solutions for applications
  • Developing and evolving a performance and tracing practice using tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, and ThousandEyes
  • Collaborating with operations, engineering, and application teams to identify long-term observability requirements
  • Automating deployments through scripting to reduce operational tasks
  • Integrating Splunk with other monitoring tools to enhance capabilities
  • Adhering to policies, procedures, and control requirements in daily operations and project activities

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

  • 2+ years of experience with monitoring and observability tools, particularly Splunk, AppDynamics, or ThousandEyes
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructures, cloud technologies, and application frameworks
  • Experience with Java app servers, Kubernetes, OpenShift, PCF, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Familiarity with operations automation tools such as AIOps and event management systems
  • Expertise in server, network, and application performance monitoring
  • Experience implementing monitoring tests in Unix and Oracle environments
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration across teams
  • Ability to translate business requirements into system requirements and analyze the impact of changes
  • Proficiency in tracking and reporting on KPIs for alignment with business goals
  • Strong technical writing skills for queries, reports, and presentations

It is a strong plus if you have:

  • Knowledge of web servers, Golang, and performance tracing tools
  • Familiarity with standards-based self-service automated platforms
  • Experience with synthetic monitoring methodologies
  • A proven ability to develop self-healing solutions
