As a Java Backend Developer, you will be working for our client, a leading global financial institution specializing in markets and securities services. You will be joining a dynamic team focused on developing and maintaining a cutting-edge in-house trading platform that supports the global Equities business. This platform plays a crucial role in real-time risk management, electronic trading, and market-making for Equity and Equity Derivative products. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of trading operations across multiple global locations.

Your main responsibilities:

• Developing new features for the in-house trading platform
• Collaborating with product owners (traders) to understand and implement feature requirements
• Automating regression testing of newly developed software
• Deploying multiple software packages to production frequently
• Ensuring production availability and stability by collectively building and owning the service
• Conducting peer reviews of code changes made by colleagues
• Actively participating in discussions to improve development processes
• Integrating cloud technologies into the platform for scalability and resilience
• Implementing test-driven development (TDD) practices to ensure high-quality code
• Utilizing continuous integration and delivery tools to streamline development workflows

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• At least 5 years of expertise in Java development
• Experience with cloud technologies such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Terraform
• Familiarity with TDD and continuous integration/delivery environments using Git, Gradle, TeamCity, and Bitbucket
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for technology
• Fluent English
• Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team
• A collaborative mindset and openness to feedback

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Expertise in Scala development
• Interest or experience in Equity or Equity Derivatives trading business
• Knowledge of trading or risk analysis systems
• Experience with REST, messaging technologies, and JVM performance tuning
• Familiarity with MongoDB and STIG stack
• Experience with Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams
• Active involvement in software development communities or open-source projects
