Java Developer – Core Engineering (Alloy)

As a Java Developer, you’ll join our client – one of the largest investment bank in the world,  to work with their development team and play a key role in shaping the future of Alloy Studio, a powerful data management platform.

Your main responsibilities: Design and develop cutting-edge data management tools to curate models, processes, and datasets

• Streamline data modeling by automating workflows and optimizing efficiency
• Enhance user experience by making Alloy Studio intuitive and user-friendly
• Integrate Alloy Studio with new data sources and databases
• Contribute to the evolution of the Legend language (an open-source project) used within Alloy Studio
• Champion the adoption of cloud technologies for data processing and storage
• Collaborate with data producers and consumers to design data models that meet diverse needs

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• 2-5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in a collaborative environment
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• Strong object-oriented design and programming skills (Java)
• Familiarity with functional programming languages a plus
• Proven ability to build complex applications using domain-driven design principles
• Deep understanding of multidimensional data, data curation, and data quality
• Expertise in relational and columnar SQL databases, including database design
• Knowledge of business processes, data flows, and quantitative data models
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts
• Independent, proactive, and eager to learn and challenge the status quo
• Commercially focused with a drive for measurable results
• Strong work ethic with a sense of ownership and urgency
• Adept at problem-solving and collaborating across global teams
• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely

It’s a strong plus if you have:

• Experience in the Financial Services industry
• Knowledge of distributed system design
• Familiarity with Pure/Alloy
• Working experience with open-source tools like AWS Lambda and Prometheus
