Kraków – based opportunity with hybrid work model (2 days/week in the office).
As a Scala Spark Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global financial institution focused on delivering scalable data-driven solutions to support secure and efficient digital banking operations. You’ll be contributing to a key initiative aiming to modernize and streamline data processing pipelines. Collaborating with teams based in multiple international locations, you will be deeply involved in the full software development lifecycle, from backlog refinement to deployment. This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment where agile methodologies and continuous improvement are part of the culture.
Your main responsibilities: Burning the Sprint backlog and helping the team to achieve sprint goals
- Collaborating closely with developers across global locations
- Following Scrum framework practices in daily development
- Maintaining code through testing, refactoring, and bug fixing
- Assisting Product Owners in refining technical backlog items
- Sharing knowledge within the team and across wider technical communities
- Participating in end-to-end product development, including production releases
- Writing scalable and efficient data processing solutions using Scala Spark
- Utilizing GitHub, Jira, and Confluence in day-to-day tasks
- Ensuring high standards in code quality and documentation
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- Strong experience with Scala Spark
- Solid understanding of GitHub for version control
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for agile project tracking
- Proven experience working within the Scrum framework
- Excellent communication skills in English for cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Experience with standard code maintenance and debugging practices
- Comfort working with distributed teams across different time zones
- Understanding of end-to-end product development cycles
- Willingness to take initiative and support backlog refinement
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Apache Airflow
- Familiarity with JUnit, TDD, or BDD methodologies
- Knowledge of Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of Clean Code principles and design patterns like SOLID, KISS, and DRY
- Experience with Elasticsearch or other search engines
- Background working with major cloud providers such as AWS or Azure
- Secure Code Warrior certification or awareness of secure coding best practices
