GCP Cloud DevOps Engineer

As a GCP Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global leader in financial services, currently undertaking a strategic transformation of its digital infrastructure. The project focuses on building and managing a robust Google Cloud Platform (GCP) foundation to support scalable and secure application deployments across the organization. You will be part of a collaborative team delivering infrastructure automation and DevOps solutions to enhance operational efficiency, security, and compliance in a highly regulated environment. This role demands hands-on experience with cloud engineering and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Your main responsibilities: Building and managing the GCP foundation platform using Infrastructure as Code

• Engineering secure and scalable cloud solutions with tools such as Terraform
• Integrating and configuring centrally provided services like IAM, networking, and containers
• Managing Software Defined Networking (SDN) within GCP environments
• Consuming and maintaining hardened OS images for Linux and Windows
• Ensuring compliance with operational risk and security standards
• Supporting CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing processes
• Implementing security patches and updates provided centrally
• Creating and updating operational documentation and change records
• Participating in a rotational on-call schedule for 24/7 platform support

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Experience building services on a major cloud provider, preferably GCP
• Strong knowledge of DevOps principles and Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and automation frameworks
• Expertise in configuring SDN elements such as VPCs and shared networks
• Understanding of physical networking concepts like subnets, NAT, and routing
• Proven ability to apply IAM and cloud compliance tools for security enforcement
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across global teams
• Practical experience with full automation and configuration management
• Excellent skills in at least one programming language such as Python or Go
• Experience supporting production platforms in a regulated enterprise environment

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Familiarity with cloud security auditing and monitoring tools
• Exposure to container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
• Background in agile development and DevOps environments
• Demonstrated ability to deliver platform solutions aligned with security patterns
• Experince providing impact assessments for core infrastructure changes
