Krakow-based opportunity with the possibility to work 70% remotely!

As a Java Engineer in Credit Risk, you will be working for our client, a leading financial institution that manages counterparty credit risk for its global operations. You will contribute to building the next generation of Counterparty Credit Risk engines, developing cutting-edge solutions using cloud technologies and microservices. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-performance systems within an Agile environment, collaborating with teams across the globe and making a direct impact on the bank’s critical risk management processes.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining efficient and reliable Java microservices
  • Developing solutions using Spring Boot and ensuring adherence to best practices like SOLID and DRY
  • Contributing to the full product life-cycle, from problem discovery to implementation
  • Applying Test Driven Development (TDD) to ensure high-quality code
  • Collaborating closely with teams in Europe and Asia to meet business needs
  • Ensuring high system performance, availability, and security
  • Supporting platform stability by handling incident resolution and problem management
  • Building automated tools to improve platform support functions
  • Mentoring and coaching junior developers within the team
  • Driving continuous improvement through Agile methodologies and DevOps practices

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

  • 3+ years of experience developing distributed systems in Java
  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, REST APIs, and Spring Boot (Hystrix, Eureka, Zuul, Sleuth, Feign, Ribbon)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or others
  • Practical experience with Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong knowledge of modern software development principles like SOLID, KISS, and DRY
  • Effective problem-solving and communication skills to translate functional needs into technical solutions
  • Self-motivation and willingness to learn new technologies and business domains
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams

It is a strong plus if you have:

  • Previous experience in investment banking or financial services
  • Expertise in building and scaling cloud-native applications
