As a Senior Software Development Engineer – Java Microservices & AWS, you will be working for our client, HSBC, within a global Digital Servicing engineering team. The Krakow engineering team collaborates daily with colleagues across the UK, Hong Kong, and China. You’ll help develop and evolve high-quality software that reduces vulnerabilities, improves operational resilience, and modernizes engineering delivery through automation and new technologies.
Your main responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and enhance efficient, reusable, secure, and reliable code aligned with approved design and coding standards.
Resolve technical debt and continuously improve software quality across microservices.
Strengthen cyber security by reducing software vulnerabilities and supporting secure-by-design development.
Drive operational resilience improvements through reliable service design and robust engineering practices.
Innovate and introduce new technologies and tooling focused on automating and optimizing engineering deliverables.
Build and evolve reactive microservices and RESTful APIs using modern Java (11+) and Spring technologies.
Collaborate in an agile, global environment, working effectively with international teams and stakeholders.
Contribute to CI/CD delivery pipelines and support automated testing practices, including unit tests.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
5+ years of professional experience in Java (11 onwards).
Strong expertise with Maven and Spring (framework, Boot, cloud, security, integration, batch, WebFlux, data).
Hands-on experience with reactive microservices and JDBC.
Proficiency with RESTful APIs and solid understanding of web/microservices (REST and SOAP).
Experience with SQL and Hibernate.
Working knowledge of JavaScript and unit testing practices.
Experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Git, and comfort working in agile delivery settings.
It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)
Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as Oracle, Postgres, and MongoDB.
Language Required for the role :
Polish: required (expected command: strong working proficiency)
English: required (fluent)
