As a Junior Data Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading player in the digital transformation of global financial markets through cutting-edge AI and data solutions. You will contribute to building high-performance, low-latency systems that enable institutional investors and market professionals to make smarter decisions with real-time analytics and insights.
Your main responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize kdb+ processes and queries to ensure maximum speed and efficiency for market-facing applications.
- Build analytic and aggregation layers that support downstream systems, APIs, and AI/ML models.
- Expose kdb+ data and analytics via APIs to front-end applications, AI engines, and reporting tools.
- Collaborate with AI and data engineering teams to provide clean, structured datasets for model training and deployment.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and capacity management strategies to sustain high availability of critical services.
- Ensure resilience and disaster recovery plans are in place for all market-critical solutions.
- Partner with traders, quants, sales, and product owners to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
- Follow internal policies on operational risk, data governance, and auditability to maintain compliance and security.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
- A passion for solving complex data engineering challenges with strong problem-solving skills.
- Fundamental knowledge in computer science or experience with functional programming languages such as Clojure, Haskell, Scala, or vectorization in Python, R, Matlab/Octave, Wolfram Mathematica.
- A keen interest in technology, automation, and optimizing large datasets.
- Basic understanding of Linux, server-client architecture, cloud infrastructure, AI/ML concepts.
- A collaborative mindset, proactive problem-solver, with the ability to manage tasks from inception to release.
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Knowledge of Timeseries databases, especially kdb+ (q language).
- Experience with financial or market data systems.
- Certifications or experience in cloud platforms or automation tools.
Language required for the role: English — communicative level.
