PostgreSQL Expert Engineer – Cloud and Replication

As a PostgreSQL Expert Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leader in database solutions, focusing on designing and managing resilient PostgreSQL architectures. You will play a crucial role in optimizing high-availability, disaster recovery strategies, and automation processes within complex cloud environments. Your main responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL logical and physical replication for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
• Automate deployment, configuration, and management tasks using Ansible, Jenkins, and scripting languages such as Bash/Python.
• Develop and refine backup, restore, and failover strategies, including experience with EDB Failover Manager.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to ensure scalability and reliability of database systems.
• Monitor database health, security, and troubleshoot replication issues promptly.
• Implement best practices for high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) in cloud environments.
• Work with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud SQL, GKE, networking, IAM, monitoring) and other cloud providers.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration and replication (logical & physical).
• Strong expertise in WAL archiving, streaming replication, and logical decoding.
• Proficiency in performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
• Experience automating database tasks using Ansible, Jenkins, and scripting languages.
• Solid knowledge of database security, access control, and auditing mechanisms.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Familiarity with Google Cloud (Cloud SQL, IAM, VPC, GKE) and other cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
• PostgreSQL certification.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with other databases like MySQL, Oracle, or NoSQL solutions.
