Krakow-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 remote days per week).
As a Senior Data Architect – Cloud & Data Governance, you will be working for our client, a leading financial institution. You will be instrumental in defining and governing the target data architecture for Data Refinery, ensuring data is managed as a strategic enterprise asset with robust quality, lineage, security, and compliance standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence how data assets are structured, integrated, and governed across the organization, driving innovation and operational excellence.
Your main responsibilities:
- Define and maintain enterprise and domain data architecture standards, including metadata, reference data, models, and naming conventions.
- Own and develop the target-state data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models and end-to-end data flows.
- Design scalable data integration patterns (batch and streaming), ensuring interoperability across multiple source systems and platforms.
- Establish and govern data quality, lineage, retention, and security requirements for published datasets, partnering closely with engineering and governance teams.
- Translate business and functional requirements into comprehensive architecture artifacts (data models, data flow diagrams, interface contracts).
- Act as the data architecture SME, guiding engineering, testing, and business teams on design decisions and resolving data-related challenges.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
- Over 10 years of experience in data architecture and data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical).
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, ideally within Google Cloud or other cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of data management best practices: metadata, lineage, data quality, security/privacy, governance, and retention.
- Experience defining architecture patterns for data pipelines and integration layers.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce architecture documentation and facilitate design discussions.
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Understanding of IT or business architecture and its alignment to enterprise strategies.
- Experience working in large or matrix organizations with diverse stakeholders and multiple delivery teams.
- Familiarity with data governance and metadata tools such as Collibra, Erwin, or Dataplex.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills to communicate complex architecture decisions effectively.
Language Required for the role:
- Fluent English (both written and spoken)
Eligibility to work in Europe:
- Only candidates with an existing legal right to work in the European Union will be considered for this role.
