As a Database Administrator, you will be working for our client, a leading financial institution. You’ll be an integral part of the infrastructure delivery team within the Payments IT department, responsible for building and supporting infrastructure across various technologies, including Linux, MQ, WAS, and Oracle. With a focus on real-time customer demands, rapid delivery of robust infrastructure is crucial for meeting business objectives while ensuring service availability and stability. This role is perfect for individuals eager to work in a dynamic team supporting complex application environments and utilizing progressive technology.

Your main responsibilities:

• Maintain good relationships with global application teams to deliver projects and consultancy services
• Collaborate with the global Payment IT team on global infrastructure projects and standardization
• Design, review, tune, and optimize databases for application requirements
• Install and administer database servers according to Group standards, implementing preventive measures and high-availability solutions
• Design and implement database operation user self-service and automation solutions
• Monitor performance, conduct capacity management/planning, backup, and job scheduling
• Perform performance tuning and optimization
• Create and maintain documentation for database server installation, configuration, and administration
• Write SQL queries for applications

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Proficiency in Oracle database and SQLServer/PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience with Linux
• Working knowledge of Bash and Python
• Experience supporting databases in mission-critical applications
• Strong understanding of technology layers in application landscape, including storage, OS, network, and database
• Technically inquisitive with a progressive interest in modern engineering disciplines and techniques
• Understanding of customer’s needs and delivering excellent customer service
• Ability to make prompt and practical business decisions, even in times of ambiguity
• Experience in Agile/DevOps environments and assisting in production support
