As a Database Developer, you will be working for our client, a leading financial institution focused on enhancing its risk and compliance systems. In this role, you will be integral to managing and optimizing critical database systems used for operational and model risk management. You will leverage your expertise in relational databases and data architecture to support key systems, ensuring efficient data retrieval, storage, and manipulation while maintaining high standards of data security and performance.

Your main responsibilities:

• Designing and creating database systems to support efficient data retrieval and storage
• Managing data migration activities and ensuring smooth transitions
• Optimizing SQL queries and statements for improved performance
• Handling data-related tasks such as parsing, cleansing, and ETL scripting
• Performing database administration activities, including backup and restore
• Scheduling batch jobs and managing data/job dependencies
• Monitoring database performance and implementing data security measures
• Collaborating with teams using JIRA and Wiki tools like Confluence
• Applying Agile methodologies to drive project success
• Analyzing and solving complex data issues under pressure

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with performance optimization
• Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux environments
• Expertise in data management, including security, permissions, and recovery
• Experience with data migration, parsing, cleansing, and ETL scripting
• Knowledge of batch job scheduling and data dependencies
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
• Proficiency with JIRA and Wiki tools like Confluence
• Experience with Agile methodologies such as SCRUM
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Knowledge of the risk domain and regulatory requirements, especially in model risk
• Experience or knowledge in machine learning techniques
