As a Data Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global financial services organization. The company is focused on leveraging innovative technologies to optimize its data architecture. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of data solutions, specifically within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will work with large-scale data models and pipelines, ensuring the integration of business requirements with technical solutions, while maintaining the highest standards of data security and compliance.
Your main responsibilities: Designing, building, testing, and deploying data models and transformations in BigQuery
- Developing data warehouses and pipelines following best practices for evolution and continuous change
- Implementing and ensuring proper authorization, authentication models, data encryption, and security components
- Reviewing, interpreting, and implementing business and technical requirements
- Refining User Stories, Epics, and Backlogs in Jira as part of ongoing productivity
- Managing code artifacts and CI/CD processes using tools like Git, Jenkins, and Google Secrets Manager
- Estimating, committing, and delivering requirements to scope, quality, and time expectations
- Ensuring applications are secure, compliant, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective
- Writing well-commented, maintainable, and self-documenting code
- Fixing defects and providing enhancements during development and handover to support teams
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- Expertise in database design, development, and administration (relational and dimensional data models)
- Strong experience in on-premise or cloud databases, warehouses, and lakes
- Proficiency in GCP architecture and solution design
- Proven experience in SQL/T-SQL procedures development and optimization in traditional or cloud databases
- Solid understanding of coding and development of DDL and DML database components
- Experience with DevOps tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub, Puppet, Chef
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum, DevOps, and ITIL principles
- Ability to deliver non-functional requirements and adhere to IT standards
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience in leading Agile development teams (Pod leadership)
- Background in solution architecture and establishing design blueprints and principles
- Experience in project planning and coordination
