Database Specialist

As a Database Specialist, you will be working for our client, a leading financial institution renowned for its comprehensive platform and developer services. This role involves securely storing and analyzing customer and transaction data, ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will manage technologies such as Mainframes, UNIX, Linux servers, and various databases, enabling faster delivery of standardized platform services. Your expertise will support critical programs that enhance collaboration with the business to effectively estimate, plan, and deliver projects.

Your main responsibilities:

• Setting up and configuring databases on RedHat Linux systems
• Performing backup, restore, patching, and upgrades/downgrades of databases
• Tuning database performance and managing client software connections
• Migrating databases and data between environments
• Monitoring databases and setting up alerts
• Executing cross loads, JCL ISPF, and using IWS Scheduler
• Scripting in Bash and SQL, utilizing GitHub and rpmbuild
• Supporting daily operations with structured and disciplined work practices
• Collaborating with international teams and managing service requests, incidents, changes, and problems

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Excellent knowledge of DB2 LUW on RedHat Linux systems
• Strong experience with database setup, configuration, and maintenance
• Proficiency in performance tuning and managing client software connections
• Skills in database and data migration
• Experience in monitoring, alerting, and using IWS Scheduler
• Proficiency in Bash and SQL scripting
• Ability to work as a team player in an international environment
• Understanding of service request, incident, change, and problem management
• Experience with collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence
• Fluent English

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Experience with REXX, Broadcom CA Tools, or Toad for DB2 database administration
• Knowledge of German language (both spoken and written)
• Skills in Puppet, Ansible, Jira, and Agile methodologies
