Java Engineer

Kraków – based opportunity with hybrid work model (1 day/week in the office)

As a Java Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global financial leader driving innovation through scalable, cloud-native platforms. You are joining a rapid development team focused on onboarding new use cases into a strategic platform built on a modern microservices architecture. You are playing a key role in simplifying integration efforts, mentoring less experienced developers, and contributing to high-level design decisions. Your expertise is ensuring that teams can deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions that align with enterprise engineering standards.

Your main responsibilities: Developing backend services using Java in a microservices architecture

• Deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes clusters
• Collaborating with pods to support and accelerate project delivery
• Designing and presenting high-level architecture to streamline platform integration
• Assisting junior developers in understanding platform design and best practices
• Implementing data pipelines and orchestration workflows using Flink and Airflow
• Writing efficient queries and managing databases including Postgres and Clickhouse
• Contributing to strategic planning and platform evolution
• Integrating new use cases by aligning them with platform architecture
• Participating in cross-functional discussions to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Strong hands-on experience with Java and microservices development
• Proven expertise in Kubernetes deployment and management
• Experience with Flink for stream processing and Airflow for orchestration
• Solid understanding of relational and columnar databases like Postgres and Clickhouse
• Ability to mentor others and share technical knowledge across teams
• Strong communication skills and experience in presenting design concepts
• Ability to work across multiple teams and adapt to different delivery pods
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps environments
• Track record of accelerating project delivery and resolving technical bottlenecks
• Experience with high-level system design and architecture

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Familiarity with Kafka, Pub/Sub, or other message queue systems
• Experience with Python for scripting or backend services
• Knowledge of entitlement solutions such as OPAS
• Background in data warehousing or analytics platforms
