Kraków – based opportunity with hybrid work model
As an MQ Administrator, you will be working for our client, a global financial services institution undertaking a large-scale modernization of its messaging infrastructure. The project focuses on ensuring high availability and performance of business-critical applications through the efficient management of IBM MQ across distributed environments. You will be collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain, secure, and optimize messaging systems that support complex banking operations. Your expertise will be instrumental in enabling seamless integration between systems while maintaining compliance with stringent enterprise and regulatory standards.
Your main responsibilities: Installing, configuring, and upgrading IBM MQ on Linux and Windows platforms
- Creating and managing MQ objects including queues, channels, and listeners
- Monitoring the performance and availability of MQ environments
- Troubleshooting incidents and resolving integration issues
- Managing MQ clustering, workload balancing, and failover settings
- Implementing security measures such as SSL/TLS and Active Directory integration
- Automating routine administrative tasks using scripting tools
- Participating in change management and deployment processes
- Maintaining disaster recovery and backup procedures for MQ environments
- Collaborating with application and infrastructure teams to support projects and operations
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ administration
- Strong understanding of MQ internals and troubleshooting methodologies
- Experience with security implementation in MQ (SSL/TLS, access controls)
- Proficiency in scripting with Shell, Python, REXX, or PowerShell
- Familiarity with distributed MQ environments
- Knowledge of MQ clustering and workload balancing techniques
- Understanding of ITIL processes including Incident and Change Management
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to document configurations and issue resolutions effectively
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience managing MQ in enterprise or high-availability environments
- Familiarity with IBM Integration Bus (IIB) or App Connect Enterprise (ACE)
- Exposure to cloud-based MQ services such as AWS MQ or IBM Cloud MQ
- Hands-on experience with MQ monitoring tools like Omegamon or Instana
- Certification in IBM MQ or a related technology
