As an Observability Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global financial institution responsible for managing critical infrastructure and automation processes. You will contribute to an Observability project that focuses on automating critical iSeries batches, reducing manual efforts, and enhancing system efficiency. Your role involves collaborating with diverse teams to implement cutting-edge monitoring solutions and frameworks that ensure high availability and robust performance for key applications.
Your main responsibilities:
- Deliver and implement activities on the monitoring and observability roadmap
- Maintain and consult on the observability and monitoring framework
- Collaborate with application teams to set up dashboards, visualizations, and monitoring solutions
- Provide consultancy on self-healing solutions for applications and infrastructure
- Build practices around performance tracing using tools like Splunk, AppDynamics, and ThousandEyes
- Engineer solutions and establish standards for observability tools and deployments
- Automate deployments and optimize operational tasks through scripting
- Schedule and host training sessions for tool adoption and best practices
- Provide input on global monitoring and observability operating models
- Adhere to policies and standards to maintain quality and compliance
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- 2+ years of experience with tools like Splunk, AppDynamics, and ThousandEyes
- Experience defining and supporting monitoring dashboards
- Familiarity with monitoring solutions, including server, network, and application performance
- Knowledge of distributed service design and autonomous software practices
- Understanding of application performance metrics and statistical analysis
- Hands-on experience with REST API development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Experience with APM deployment for mission-critical applications
- Understanding of business/functional processes and their system impacts
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Scripting experience, such as REXX, for automation
- Familiarity with ServiceNow, Confluence, and Jira
- Knowledge of AIOps and event management tools
- Experience developing monitoring extensions for observability tools
- Technical writing expertise in reports and presentations
