Performance Test Engineer

As a Performance Test Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading financial services organization known for its innovative IT solutions. You will be integral to a specialist team focused on delivering high-quality performance testing across a range of applications and systems. Your role will involve planning, developing, and executing performance tests, integrating them into continuous delivery pipelines, and driving improvements in testing strategies within a dynamic Agile/Scrum environment.

Your main responsibilities:

• Developing and executing performance test plans and scripts for web applications across various protocols
• Collaborating with developers to integrate performance testing into continuous integration and delivery pipelines
• Analyzing system performance data to identify bottlenecks and recommending solutions
• Configuring and maintaining performance test frameworks and tools
• Promoting best practices in performance testing and quality assurance throughout the software development lifecycle
• Supporting all performance test activities and ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements
• Evaluating and implementing new testing tools, techniques, and automation methods
• Encouraging team collaboration to enhance test and release processes
• Providing feedback and guidance to developers on performance issues and remediation
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of core IT systems, including database and web-based technologies

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Experience in web application performance testing across multiple protocols (HTTPS/HTML, SMTP/POP, FTP, TCP/IP, XML/SOAP) resulting in delivery of robust and high-quality scalable solutions
• Proficiency in JMeter performance test script creation and editing using BeanShell or Groovy
• Experience with performance monitoring and alerting tools such as AppDynamics
• Understanding of Agile and DevOps practices, including performance testing toolsets (J-meter, Taurus, Gatling, K9 etc.)
• Basic Linux OS knowledge, including performance tools and text editors
• Demonstrable experience with Oracle databases and performance analysis using SQL
• Strong attention to detail combined with a strategic perspective
• Knowledge of server-level application configuration and network protocols
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with cross-functional teams
• Experience in integrating performance testing into continuous delivery pipelines

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Experience with additional scripting languages for test automation
• Knowledge of advanced database performance tuning and optimization
• Familiarity with other application performance monitoring tools
