As a Python Developer (0,5 FTE) you will be working for our client, a major leader in the European insurance market. You will be joining a crucial project within the claims department, focused on a key system provided by an external vendor. Your role will be instrumental in bridging the gap between current needs and future ambitions. You will be tasked with performing a deep technical audit, developing new functionalities, and ensuring the system’s day-to-day stability. This position requires a blend of hands-on development and strategic communication with business owners and the vendor, as you will also play a significant part in the long-term plan to completely rewrite the application.

Your main responsibilities: Conducting a comprehensive technical audit of the current vendor system

• Developing and implementing new, required functionalities
• Maintaining the stability and performance of the application
• Acting as the technical liaison between business owners and the vendor
• Translating business requirements into technical specifications
• Participating in the strategic planning for the system’s future rewrite
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues
• Assisting in defining the future architecture of the claims system

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• A minimum of 4 years of commercial experience as a Python Developer
• Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to talk to business and technical stakeholders
• Experience in maintaining and extending complex, third-party systems
• A strong background in the insurance industry, specifically within the claims domain
• Demonstrable experience in performing system audits and code reviews
• Proficiency with relational databases and API integrations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently
• Experience in gathering and translating business needs into technical solutions
• An understanding of software development life cycles
