As a Senior CDN and Cloud Networking Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading institution managing an extensive web estate and digital security operations. Your expertise will optimize the delivery, security, and performance of critical web assets, shaping the future of enterprise-level edge networks and cloud connectivity. Your main responsibilities:

• Own CDN delivery configurations — optimize caching, request routing, origin failover, and performance tuning from end-to-end.
• Manage WAF policies — design rules, tune defenses, triage false positives, and respond to live attack traffic with precision.
• Oversee DNS and global traffic management — configure regional routing, load balancing, and failover strategies.
• Manage TLS certificates and ensure secure delivery standards across the edge.
• Troubleshoot Azure networking components — Application Gateway, load balancers, NSGs, DNS, and traffic routing from origin to edge.
• Lead complex performance and availability investigations — trace requests from browser to origin, identify root causes, and resolve issues swiftly.
• Act as senior escalation point during incidents related to traffic, availability, or security — drive root cause analysis and remediation.
• Collaborate with engineering teams — review configuration changes, share expertise on edge and CDN best practices, and produce comprehensive documentation.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Akamai in large-scale production environments.
• Proven expertise operating Akamai WAF (App & API Protector or Kona), including policy design, tuning, and attack response.
• Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, DNS, caching, headers, and full request path debugging.
• Solid Azure networking skills — application gateways, load balancers, NSGs, DNS, and traffic routing.
• Track record of diagnosing complex production issues across edge, network, and application layers.
• Ability to document and communicate edge behavior clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

It’s a strong plus if you have:

• Bot management and DDoS mitigation experience.
• Multi-CDN experience (e.g., Cloudflare, CloudFront, Tencent) or CDN migrations.
• Infrastructure as code expertise with Terraform (Akamai provider) or familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience operating within security and operational risk frameworks in regulated environments.
• API-driven configuration management skills.
