As a Senior Valuation Controller, you will be working for our client, a leading global financial institution, within the Credit Valuations team. Your role will focus on valuation control processes for Global Private Credit and Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) businesses, ensuring adherence to regulatory and accounting standards. You will engage with multiple stakeholders, including Front Office, Risk, and Audit teams, to enhance valuation methodologies and provide accurate valuation adjustments. Your responsibilities will also include the automation and streamlining of fair value processes, helping to ensure efficient and consistent valuation practices across global teams.
Your main responsibilities: Managing the methodology and implementation of Fair Value Adjustments (FVA), Independent Price Verification (IPV), and Prudent Valuation Adjustments (PVA
- Engaging with stakeholders across Front Office, Risk, Quants, and Valuations & Analytics to discuss valuation methodologies
- Supporting valuation processes for secondary loan trading, distressed credit, and private equity portfolios
- Conducting in-depth analysis and bespoke valuations at trade and position levels
- Ensuring adherence to valuation governance and controls, including preparing for and contributing to valuation committees
- Standardizing valuation policies and methodologies across teams and locations
- Identifying and resolving issues related to valuation methodologies, processes, or systems
- Monitoring and documenting model restrictions and recommendations
- Driving process optimization and automation to enhance efficiency
- Liaising with internal and external audit teams, as well as regulators, to ensure compliance
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- A graduate degree with experience in Product Control or Valuations
- A strong track record in a top-tier global bank
- Detailed knowledge of Product Control Valuations processes and experience managing valuation or financial process-based activities
- Market derivative knowledge in the Credit asset class
- Experience engaging with stakeholder groups, including Business, Risk, and Audit teams
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to drive discussions on valuation methodologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate key valuation issues to senior stakeholders
- Experience developing valuation methodologies and shaping policy for IPV and FVA
- Knowledge of accounting requirements and regulatory guidelines for valuation activities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, VBA, and SQL
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience with Distressed Credit and Private Equity valuations
- Prior exposure to ABS-related products and secondary market trading
- Familiarity with automation and process optimization initiatives
- Previous experience working in a global team environment
