As an Storage Observability Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global leader in financial services, supporting a strategic initiative to modernize infrastructure observability across the enterprise. You are leveraging the OpenTelemetry framework to design, implement, and optimize end-to-end telemetry solutions across a range of storage platforms and microservices architectures. With a focus on automation, performance monitoring, and compliance, you are playing a key role in ensuring reliable, secure, and real-time insights into the health of complex distributed systems, collaborating closely with engineering, infrastructure, and DevOps teams worldwide.
Your main responsibilities: Designing and implementing observability solutions using OpenTelemetry framework
- Building instrumentation for applications, services, and APIs to capture telemetry data
- Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipeline automation for telemetry infrastructure
- Integrating OpenTelemetry with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk
- Customizing instrumentation for languages like Java, Python, and Node.js
- Creating and maintaining dashboards for real-time and historical performance insights
- Analyzing telemetry data to detect and troubleshoot system anomalies
- Ensuring telemetry infrastructure follows security and compliance standards
- Collaborating with stakeholders to drive observability adoption and improvements
- Contributing to the OpenTelemetry project by adding features or fixing bugs
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- 8+ years of experience in IT with strong observability and telemetry expertise
- Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, including tracing, metrics, and logging
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Node.js, or Golang
- Experience integrating observability with tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk
- Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, and GitHub
- Deep understanding of microservices and context propagation for distributed tracing
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug instrumentation and performance issues
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working in Agile environments
- Ability to write and maintain technical documentation for observability practices
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience contributing to open-source observability frameworks
- Background in infrastructure observability for Dell/EMC, NetApp, or Pure platforms
- Familiarity with performance optimization techniques for telemetry systems
- Knowledge of security and compliance standards related to telemetry data
- Proficiency in database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and InfluxDB
