Kraków – based opportunity with hybrid work model (6 days/month in the office).
As a Valuation Controller, you will be working for our client, a leading global financial institution, overseeing the proper valuation of financial instruments within the Global Markets Business. You will be responsible for ensuring valuations are in line with best practices, incorporating IFRS accounting standards, company policies, and other relevant guidelines. Your role will involve working closely with multiple teams to maintain and enhance valuation methodologies while ensuring accuracy in the P&L and balance sheet reporting.
Your main responsibilities: Performing Fair Value Adjustment (FVA) and Independent Price Verification (IPV)
- Calculating Prudent Valuation (PVA) and preparing Fair Value Levelling (FVL)
- Improving controls and implementing updated valuation methodologies
- Preparing Management Information for various internal committees
- Delivering a comprehensive view of the P&L and balance sheet in cooperation with Business Financial Control
- Building relationships with stakeholders, including Product Control, Quantitative Analytics, and Market Risk Management
- Streamlining and reengineering processes for greater efficiency and service quality
- Monitoring compliance with Client’s Group policies and IFRS accounting standards
- Identifying and resolving valuation discrepancies proactively
- Engaging in cross-functional projects and driving continuous improvement within the valuation function
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a similar field
- A strong understanding of financial instruments and valuation techniques
- Knowledge of market risk factors and their impact on valuations
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; VBA knowledge is preferred
- Excellent analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Fluent English
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships
- Ambition, drive, and enthusiasm for the financial industry
- A CFA or FRM qualification (or currently in progress)
- A keen eye for detail and ability to work under pressure
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Knowledge of Access and SQL
- Experience working in investment banking or financial services
- Familiarity with IFRS accounting standards and regulatory frameworks
- Ability to engage with senior stakeholders effectively
- Experience in process reengineering and improving operational efficiency
