As a Data/Solution Architect, you will be working for our client, a leading financial services organization, contributing to the strategic implementation of data architecture within their Wholesale (WS) Data & Analytics IT department. The project involves unraveling and optimizing the Sales and Marketing System (SAMS), which serves as both a decision-making tool and a data refinery. You will collaborate with various architects and stakeholders to ensure the seamless de-coupling of existing data pipelines, while promoting best practices in data architecture and governance within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Your main responsibilities:
- Understanding business requirements through regular interactions with the Wholesale Chief Data Office (CDO) and other subject matter experts
- Translating business requirements into solution designs and functional specifications
- Building technical and logical designs to support the de-coupling of data pipelines in SAMS
- Communicating functional solutions to the development team and providing ongoing support
- Collaborating with the production support team to ensure new software is well-understood and supported
- Promoting data architecture best practices, standards, and tools within the organization
- Contributing to Data Architecture Solution definition and documentation, ensuring adherence to Group standards
- Collaborating with the Wholesale CDAO to create scalable, re-usable data assets
- Providing thought leadership to enforce data standards and execute the WS Data Architecture strategy
- Conducting Design Reviews to ensure adherence to the WS Data Strategy and associated standards
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- At least 5 years of experience working within a large, complex, and geographically dispersed organization as a Data Architect
- Comprehensive knowledge of data management, data architecture, and data governance within financial services
- Proven data modeling skills (conceptual, logical, and physical) with adherence to governance standards
- Strong conceptual and logical thinking abilities, with experience in designing Enterprise logical models
- Ability to quickly understand and apply analysis and data skills to new contexts and approaches
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills, with a strong ability to communicate virtually
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to articulate, present, and obtain approval for solutions across IT and Business teams
- Proven experience in managing and resolving complex issues using analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong planning, organization, and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Experience in building trusting relationships across business and technical areas
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience with Hadoop environments (Cloudera/HortonWorks)
- Experience with GCP Data environments (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc) or other cloud equivalent technologies
- Experience with Streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink, Pub/Sub)
- Knowledge of sound application integration patterns
- Awareness of master data management patterns and principles
- A good understanding of Enterprise Architecture methodologies such as TOGAF
