As an Infrastructure Solutions Architect, you will be working for our client, a leading financial institution, supporting the Wealth Personal Banking (WPB) IT business projects and transformation programmes.

Your main responsibilities:

• Delivering new IT services, exploiting Cloud and infrastructure technologies
• Migrating applications to IaaS/PaaS platforms on internal and external clouds
• Driving greater utilization of virtualization & lower cost storage
• Migrating away from non-strategic technology platforms
• Optimizing data backup and retention policies
• Investigating new infrastructure technologies to meet WPB IT business requirements
• Providing technical governance over products via the Technical Reference Model (TRM)
• Ensuring service governance of existing and new technical non-functional service definitions within an Infrastructure Service Catalogue
• Writing and reviewing Infrastructure Architecture Designs approved by the WPB Infrastructure Review Board
• Managing relationships across Client’s IT Architecture, IT Infrastructure Delivery, and WPB IT Application Development teams
• Keeping up to date with business strategies, technology roadmaps, and feeding wider business IT requirements into central infrastructure engineering and strategy teams
• Using knowledge of the business, applications, and infrastructure to make proactive recommendations for improvements

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Experience determining business requirements and influencing solutions
• Ability to gauge strategic impact and ensure logical design contributes to technology objectives
• Proficiency in delivering end-to-end technical infrastructure designs
• Capability to verify impact, validate deployment and support models
• Aptitude for qualifying technical acceptance of all components
• Experience in proposing deployment options and considering service placement requirements
• Skills in reviewing designs and gaining approval via the WPB Cloud Infrastructure Review Board
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code
• Expertise in optimizing commercials and approvals
• In-depth functional and non functional knowledge of:
  • Cloud Platforms (Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Alibaba Cloud)
  • Containerisation Capabilities (Docker, Kubernetes, Service Mesh and Microservices)
  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (Jenkins, GitHub, Nexus)
  • Automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet,)
  • Middleware (WebSphere, Tomcat, Java, Messaging, Application Server, Web server)
  • Databases (Oracle RAC, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and Java/Java GUI, XML/XSLT, HTML/JavaScript & MS SQL; VCS & MSCS)
  • Networking (Cisco, TCP/UDP, Broadcast/Multicast, LAN/WAN, SDN)
  • Server Operating systems internals, benchmarking and performance tuning (Linux, Windows, Solaris), Server Virtualisation (VMware, Xen, Hyper-V, KVM)
  • Storage (EMC SAN – FC, FCoE, iSCSI, SRDF; NetApp NAS – CIFS, NFS; Object storage)
  • Collaboration tools (Confluence, Jira)

• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
• Track record of delivering significant changes and leading others effectively
• Proven experience of leading others and creating an environment that supports and inspires people to develop and deliver
