As a Java Back End Developer, you will be working for our client, a leading financial institution, on a project focused on designing and implementing new Regulatory reporting software to support global regulatory initiatives. This role is pivotal in ensuring the firm meets the requirements of external regulators through accurate and efficient data processing.

Your main responsibilities: Designing and implementing new Regulatory reporting software to support global regulatory initiatives

• Solving challenging big data problems, ensuring data correctness while processing millions of rows daily
• Finding effective ways to aggregate and present data to end users, contributing to data science efforts
• Developing effective data processing services within the data lake using Java/Spring/Spark/Scala technology stack
• Building relationships with end users to understand business needs and suggest improvements to existing tools and processes
• Gaining a comprehensive understanding of financial instruments across various asset classes

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a mindset of ownership
• Proficiency in Java programming
• Experience with SQL, relational databases, and query optimization
• Familiarity with test-driven development
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and designing for performance and resiliency
• Focus on software quality, with the ability to write clean code and promote best practices
• Openness to acquiring new skills and technologies

Nice to have:

• Experience or a strong interest in investment banking or financial products
• Experience with big data concepts (e.g., Spark)
• Experience with Scala
• Experience in BPMN and user workflow-based systems
