Krakow-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 days remote per week).
As a Senior Payment Production Support Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading international financial services organization dedicated to enhancing global payment ecosystems. You will be instrumental in maintaining and optimizing mission-critical systems across a diverse technological landscape, fostering resilience, efficiency, and compliance. This role offers a path to grow your expertise within a dynamic, innovative environment.
Your main responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive day-to-day production support for Payments IT systems, including incident resolution and problem management.
- Monitor the health of production environments, respond swiftly to incidents, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Operate and troubleshoot Linux environments—patching, configuration, performance tuning, capacity management, certificates, and connectivity.
- Support Oracle Database operations in collaboration with DBAs—monitoring performance, resolving locks, managing backups, and ensuring recovery readiness.
- Manage and optimize containerized workloads on Kubernetes, including deployments, scaling, cluster health, network diagnostic, and service troubleshooting.
- Automate operational tasks using Shell Scripts, Python, or Java to reduce manual effort and enhance reliability.
- Improve monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to facilitate early detection and faster diagnostics of system issues.
- Ensure production readiness for release cycles by validating deployment criteria, supporting controlled deployments, and implementing rollbacks when necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation and runbooks for operational procedures.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to strengthen resilience, compliance, and auditability.
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in production support or a similar technical role, preferably within the payments or financial services sector.
- Strong proficiency in Linux administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with SQL and PL/SQL, especially in Oracle database environments.
- Hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python, Java) for automation tasks.
- Familiarity with system monitoring and logging tools such as Nagios, Grafana, Splunk, or AppDynamics.
- Sound understanding of application architecture layers including OS, storage, network, and databases.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and crisis management skills.
- Strong communication skills in English (fluent level).
- Proven ability to operate under high-pressure, high-frequency change environments with a focus on automation and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working in Agile/DevOps settings.
It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)
- Prior experience in payments systems.
- Knowledge of Puppet, Ansible, or other configuration management tools.
- Experience with Java or additional scripting languages.
Language Required for the role:
Fluent English (spoken and written).
