As a Senior Production Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading financial institution, within the Payments IT department. The Production Support Team is responsible for the technical operations of Global Payments Execution, Messaging & Orchestration, and Sanctions & Investigation services. Operating based on Site Reliability Engineering principles, the team manages a mission-critical environment across various technologies. With a focus on real-time demands, our key business drivers are platform availability and service stability, making this role crucial for maintaining operational excellence.
Your main responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive day-to-day Production Support services, including resolving live incidents and conducting post-resolution problem management activities
- Offer technical expertise in identifying the root cause of major system problems
- Install new software releases provided by vendors and implement locally developed solutions using scripting languages such as Shell, Java, Bash, Python, or Perl
- Support various testing activities related to new implementations
- Collaborate with stakeholders globally and review, design, and re-engineer processes using new technologies to enhance performance
- Design and drive the implementation of service offerings, capability uplifts, and process improvements
- Evaluate, develop, and apply appropriate tools to analyze the architecture
- Participate in validating data, development, implementation, and testing activities
- Perform data analysis of key problem areas to assist in root cause analysis and identify data anomalies
- Contribute productively to team objectives, supporting or leading activities to achieve shared goals
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- Experience in Oracle (SQL) queries and optimization, Linux commands, and Bash/Python scripting
- Proficiency in high-frequency change, including the adoption, engineering, and execution of automated CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of technology layers in the application landscape, storage, OS, network, and database
- Demonstrable excellent spoken and written communication skills across global organizations
- Proven triage capability under pressure, with the ability to make strong priority judgments at runtime
- Technical curiosity with a progressive interest in modern engineering disciplines and techniques
- Understanding of customer needs and delivering excellent customer service
- Ability to make prompt and practical business decisions, even in times of ambiguity, considering various perspectives and taking responsibility for outcomes
- Experience in Agile/DevOps environments and assisting in production support
